MODULE 4. SCENARIOS
The Scenarios module is available for both Back Test and Full Fit models. The key distinction lies in the fact that in Back Test models, only the Base case can be executed. Conversely, in the case of Full Fit, several additional options become available to execute different workflow scenarios.

Categorization
Enables users to filter or group models based on the hierarchy defined in the environment (e.g., by field or asset).

**Reloads the current view or undoes recent changes.
Customizing Columns
Users can personalize and arrange the display columns to suit their workflow preferences. Available columns include:
- Name. Name attributed to the scenario.
- Description. Description of the scenario.
- Status. Displays the current model state:
- Running.
- Pending.
- Pending.
- Failed.
- Terminated.
- Type. Indicates the type of scenario generated: Base Case, Custom Scenario, Connectivity Analysis.
- Created. Indicates the date when a specific scenario was generated.
- Run Time. Indicates the duration or time taken for the execution of the scenario.
- Model. Indicates the model from which the scenario was created.
- Asset. Indicates the hierarchy towards which the model was created.
Bulk Actions
Perform multiple actions for a group of models selected. Options are:
- Mark as Favorite.
- Marked as Locked.
- Marked as Restricted.
- Marked as Target.
Search Bar
Allows users to enter keywords or phrases to quickly locate relevant scenarios.
New Scenario
Use this option to run a new scenario.
Chart columns and options:
Checkbox
Enables the selection of one or multiple models for batch actions.
Column Names
The table columns reflect the attributes listed in the Customizing Columns section, helping users visualize model data at a glance.
Three-dots button
The three-dot button beside each model provides quick access to advanced actions, offering a clean and intuitive interface. Depending on the model's status and type, the following options may be available:
- Edit
- Edit Predict.
- Modify Name & Description.
- Data
- Sync Post Processing.
- Actions
- Clone Scenario.
- Toggle Favorite.
- Toggle Restricted.

4.1 NEW SCENARIO
The new scenario button enables the scenario creation options with a step-by-step guide to create a variety of forecasting scenarios and connectivity analysis.
4.1.1 What type of Scenario do you want to run?

In this tab, you can select the desired scenario type to generate. Available options include: Injection Rate Change, WAG Change, New Well, Custom, Producer Connectivity Analysis, and Connectivity Analysis scenarios.
- Injection Rate Change Scenario. Forecast production impact from injection rate adjustments, shut-ins, or reactivations.
- WAG Change Scenario. Simulate Water-Alternating-Gas (WAG) operations considering HCPV, slug size, WAG ratio, and maximum gas injection limits.
- New Well Scenario. Assess production and injection effects from adding new infill wells, whether producers or injectors.
- Connectivity Analysis Scenario. Quantify how changes in injection affect the production of hydraulically connected wells.
- Producer Connectivity Analysis Scenario. Evaluate the influence of production changes on connected well performance.
- Custom Scenario. Perform advanced forecasting by combining multiple operational changes, including injection rate shifts, shut-ins/reactivations, BHP adjustments, and well conversions.
4.1.1.1 Injection Rate Change and Custom Scenario

Characterization of the model, define key details for the forecast scenario using the following options:
- Name. Assign a scenario name.
- Description. Optional text box to provide additional context.
- List of existing models to create the forecast scenario.
- Search bar. Quickly locate a model by name.
- Checkbox. Manually select the desired model.
4.1.1.1.2 Parameters / Define the parameters for your scenario

Maximum Number of Time Steps
Set the maximum number of timesteps to be evaluated for predictions.
Additional Time Steps
Additional timesteps can be added to evaluate the forecasts beyond the number of months specified in the ‘Base Case Time Steps’ parameter within the Model (90 by default). If the user wants to extend the default 90 timesteps forecast, the number of additional timesteps should be specified in this box.
Uptime Avg Steps
Quantity of timesteps (from historical data) evaluated to average the uptimes that will be used for the forecast. By default, the prediction scenarios are generated using the last uptime from the input file, but sometimes, this uptime value may not be representative of the future uptimes of the wells. To ensure a more representative Uptime value, the average uptime values from the last “n” number of months from input data can be specified and used for predictions. This number “n” is defined within this variable.
Export Monthly
When activated, the prediction results are reported at the start of the month. Locsim uses Timesteps sizes of 30 days, which yields to predictions with a date stamp that differs from the typically 1st day of the month production report. In order to keep consistency with production reports to the 1st day of the month, we include this option that automatically interpolates the predictions to ensure consistent timestamps.

Distance of influence (ft) (Only applies for Injection Rate Change Scenario)**
Establish the distance of influence within each selected well, for which the prediction will be created. Wells within this radius will be included in the configuration and results from the prediction. This option enables to create a forecast scenario for a selected group of wells and those included within a specified distance of influence from the selection.
Run full ensemble prediction
Run full ensemble prediction.
Modify Responsivity for all Phases (Only applies for Custom Scenario)
Show liquid, oil, and gas responsivity values and allow them to be modified.
Minimum Oil Rate (bbl/d)
Minimum Oil Rate prediction for each well. Forecasting stops if the predicted oil rate is lower than this value.
Maximum Water Cut (%)
Maximum water cut. Forecasting stops if the water cut is greater than this value.
Maximum WOR (bbl/bbl)
Maximum water-oil ratio. Forecasting stops if the predicted water-oil ratio is greater than this value.
Maximum GOR (mscf/bbl)
Maximum gas-oil ratio. Forecasting stops if the predicted gas-oil ratio is greater than this value.
4.1.1.1.3 Injectors (Injection rate change scenario) & Wells (Custom scenario)

Select the Injectors / Wells to modify for your scenario**
The Wells List, which includes selectable checkboxes, enables efficient management of the wells to be included in subsequent tabs for editing statuses, injection rates or BHPs. In the Custom Scenario, all wells can be included; in the Injection Rate Change Scenario, only injector wells are available.

Search Bar
The search bar allows you to quickly find the relevant wells within the list.
Select All Wells
The Wells table enables the selection of all the wells at the same time by using the checkbox next to the wells name.
Filters button
Wells associated with a certain reservoir (in the case of the reservoir model), FaultBlock or Compartment are selected automatically through this option.
Wells List Chart
Selection of all or a group of wells (injectors or injectors and Producers) desire to be targeted during the scenario evaluation.
Your Selection List
Displays the chosen well selection that will be taken into account during the scenario evaluation, and that will be available for editing in the following tabs.
4.1.1.1.4 Status

Status modifications for the selected group of wells can be made directly in the table. The available adjustments in this tab depend on the chosen scenario. Specifically:
- Injection Rate Change Scenario. Only injector wells status can be altered, allowing users to set them as closed or active injectors.
- Custom Scenario. Both injector and producer wells are modifiable. Users can designate them as Closed or as either active Producers or active Injectors to maintain their current status or convert them.
Table modifications are editable in a manner similar to an Excel file. Users can manually input values, paste data from external Excel files, and employ the "drag and fill" option to populate subsequent rows.
Top bar options:
File
The tab provides the option to download and upload the file when modifications are done externally. These functions are initiated through the following buttons:
- Open. Upload the file in Excel format.
- Export. Download the file in Excel format.
- Save. Save the modifications made through the file uploaded or the modifications done directly in the table.
Home
This tab allows to perform the following actions:
- Arrow Back. Reverts the last action performed (Undo).
- Arrow Forward. Restores the last undone action (Redo).
- Save. Save the modifications made through the file uploaded or the modifications done directly in the table.
- Search bar. The search bar allows you to quickly find the relevant wells within the list.
Table display:
The table enables the option to modify manually the wells status, where each column corresponds to 1 well, and each row to 1 month and the number of cumulative days associated. The columns name association and representation are as follows:
- Days. Number of days (cumulative) into the forecast.
- Date. Dates for the forecast, typically every 30 days.
- Wells Name. The wells selected for the scenario evaluation will displayed in an individual column.
- Injection Rate Change Scenario. Only Injector wells will be visible.
- Custom Scenario. Producer and Injector wells will be visible (shown in the table in the same order just mentioned).
- Interactive Cells. Modifications can be held through them, the action of status editing must be typed as follows:
- Injection Rate Change Scenario.
- Active well: Injector.
- Inactive well: Closed.
- Custom Scenario.
- Active well: Injector and Producer.
- Inactive well: Closed.
- Conversion: Injector and Producer.

4.1.1.1.5 Rates

Modification of the rates is permissible for the chosen wells group. The type of adjustments permitted in this tab is contingent on the selected scenario. This means that under the:
- Injection Rate Change Scenario. Set injection rates (water and/or gas), polymer concentrations, uptimes and liquid responsivity for injectors.
- Custom Scenario. Both injector and producer wells are fully configurable. Users can specify bottomhole pressures (BHPs) for producers, set injection rates (water and/or gas) and polymer concentrations for injectors, and adjust uptimes and liquid responsivity for both well types.
Table display:
Tabs with the same table format are displayed: Producer BHP (PSI), Water Injection (bbl/day), Gas Injection (mscf/day), Polymer Concentration (WT per WT%), Uptime (.%) and Liquid Responsivity.

The table allows users to manually modify well variables. Each column represents a specific well, while each row corresponds to a month and its associated number of cumulative days. The column naming and representations are detailed below:
- Days: Number of days (cumulative) into the forecast.
- Date: Dates for the forecast, typically every 30 days.
- Wells Name. The wells selected for the scenario evaluation will be displayed in an individual column.
- Interactive Cells per tab. Modifications can be held through and the action of editing must be typed as follows:
- Producer BHP (PSI)
- Injection Rate Change Scenario. Tab disabled.
- Custom Scenario. The Producer wells’ bhp will be editable (numerical record).
- Water Injection (bbl/day) and Gas Injection (mscf/day)
- Injection Rate Change Scenario. The injector wells’ rate will be editable (numerical record).

Forecast production in a set WAG scenario, considering HCPV, slug size, WAG ratio, and gas injection limit.

Selection of the desired WAG scenario to be run includes the following options:
- HCPV-Based WAG Scheduler. Schedules WAG injections based on the Hydrocarbon Pore Volume, gas slug size and WAG ratio parameters.
- Priority-Based WAG Scheduler. Prioritizes wells for WAG injections based on a predefined list, with direct assignment of gas and water cycle lengths.

Maximum Field Gas Injection
Sets the upper limit for total gas injection across the field (mscf/d).
Top Priority Injection (%)
Select a % group of wells with the highest priority to allow slightly surpassing the maximum field gas injection.
Gas Injection Flexibility (%)
Allows a specified percentage increase in the maximum field gas injection for top priority wells, providing flexibility to exceed standard limits when necessary.
Default Gas Injection Timesteps
Specifies the standard number of timesteps for gas injection for all wells; can be changed in the upcoming workflow.
Default Water Injection Timesteps
Specifies the standard number of timesteps for water injection for all wells; can be changed in the upcoming workflow.
Default Cycles
Sets the default number of WAG cycles for wells, providing a baseline scheduling framework.
Include Max BHP for Gas and Water
Includes the option to define the maximum BHP.
Force Top Priority Injection
Force stopping gas injection in low-priority wells injection to prioritize injections in wells with top priority, ensuring they meet their injection targets..

Evaluate and quantify the impact of connectivity between injectors and producers, as well as between producers themselves.

Define the parameters for your scenario.
Connectivity Run Mode
Permits running a connectivity map on a What-If scenario.
- Base Case Connectivity. Each injector is “turned off” individually and the software reports the change in production relative to the Base Case forecast.
- Target Connectivity. Each injector is “turned off” individually and the software reports the change in production relative to the what-if forecast scenario selected.
- Difference between Base and Target: The production impact of each injector well is compared for the “Base” and “Target” scenario’s injection rates
Perturbation Percentage
Percentage of perturbation in the injector wells for analyzing the interdependence with the neighbor producers (100% perturbation is equivalent to shut-in the injector wells).
Number of Steps of Predictions
Time steps to evaluate the measured cumulative oil volume reduction on a producer from shutting in an injector.
4.2 SCENARIO RESULTS

Once the scenario case is accessed, the following main tabs can be visualized in the bottom part of the window:

Results**
Rate vs time or cumulative vs time: See all the configuration options in the “Filters” section.
Well Inputs
Table with the specified status, injection rates, and/or BHPs table for running the forecast scenario. Changes can be made in this table, and then a new scenario can be generated from the changes performed through these tables.

Maps
The Connectivity map will show you the geographical location of the wells in the asset analyzed, enabling the ability to define the interdependence based on visual connections that the software disseminates. Each of the colors represents a percentage (%) degree of impact from the injector toward neighbor producers.
Tables
Display the Connectivity Map tables evaluated per injector, indicating the impact on the corresponding connected producers, which can be evaluated as Production Impact, Percent Impact, or Average Production Rate for Oil or Liquid, depending on the filter options selected. The tables can be exported in an Excel file. The table is constituted by:
- Injector column. Each injector will be represented by a row.
- Bore.
- Reservoir.
- Producer Column. Each producer is denoted by a column, reflecting the impact per injector. A blank cell signifies no associated impact.

- Production Impact. Cumulative production impact in the period (default 15 months) due to injection shut-in evaluation.
